  Benefits of straight teeth
Crowded or misaligned teeth may affect your oral health. Your teeth are harder to keep clean when they’re not aligned properly, which puts you at an increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease. A misaligned bite puts you at a higher risk for fractures and damage to your teeth and also contributes to a jaw joint disorder known as TMD.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  How long does it take?

Length of treatment takes from 6 to 15 months.  The average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 17 to 30.  Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day. Each aligner is worn for on average 2 weeks.  In some cases they may be switched out every week.  You have the freedom to remove the aligners when you eat or for brief important social events or circumstances.

2.  What are attachments and what is IPR?

Attachments allow the aligner to engage the tooth for ease of movement.  They are small, tooth colored dots ( or "bumps" as our patients like to describe them) of highly esthetic dental bonding material on discrete areas of certain teeth, usually in the middle.  They can be different shapes, depending on the movement purpose.  There are no shots or drilling of the teeth involved.  At the end of treatment we polish them off.

3.  What if I play sports?

If the sport requires a mouthguard you may remove the aligner while the mouthguard is in place.  If your activity does not need one, a benefit to Invisalign® is that you can continue to wear your aligners without worrying about sharp brackets or wire ends causing discomfort during play.
