Preventative Care
When it comes to our younger patients we believe in the old adage of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".  Earlier and routine dental visits for children helps prevent dental disease with children often being cavity free as adults.  We teach our patients effective brushing and flossing habits and provide nutrition tips.

                                                                         Holistic

We encourage good oral hygiene habits and help you develop a home care plan that works for your child.  Many of our patients choose a flouride free home dentifrice product for their children and elect not to do in office flouride treatment as well.  Many of our products we use to restore teeth are carefully selected keeping in mind optimal biocompatibility.  We are proud to be mercury free and latex free.  We are also certified to handle amalgam mercury filling removal, please ask us about our safe amalgam removal technique.

Athletic sports guards

More children are involved in sports than ever before.  Whether they are involved with playing pickup ball at the local YMCA or due to the increase in youth participation in organized or club sports, our youth have a daily routine with sports.  The ADA reports that an athlete is "60 times" more vulnerable to oral injury when not wearing a guard.  It is not just teeth a sports athletic guard is protecting.  did you know that you can also sustain "jawbone" mandible or maxillary injuries or lacerations to the lips, cheek, and soft tissue? Properly fitted mouth guards may also reduce the occurence and or depth of concussions.

We all know that hockey, boxing, and football require guards.  But other sports, such as basketball, skateboarding and bicycling are right up there with oral related injuries since the participants aren't wearing mouth protective gear during practice and games.

According to the ADA here are other sports for which a mouthguard is helpful:

1.  Acrobatics

2.  Baseball/Softball

3.  Basketball

4.  Bicylcing

5.  Boxing

6.  Equestrian sports
